The Galla (or Somali/Borana) goat is a resilient, medium-to-large sized breed native to the Horn of Africa, known for its hardiness in arid and semi-arid conditions, excellent walking ability, and capacity for both good milk production and rapid weight gain. Typically white or light-colored, they are muscular, have sturdy legs for rugged terrain, and are calm and easy to manage, making them ideal for small and large-scale farmers in dry ecosystems.
